Go Vegetarian For The Many Benefits

The vegetarian lifestyle can be healthy and safe if it is planned out correctly. If you’re actually eating fresh fruits and vegetables along with whole grains, nuts and seeds then you will get all the nutrients and proteins that you need to sustain a healthy lifestyle. If all you’re eating is cheese pizza and french fries and calling that vegetarian then you’re doing it wrong. A lot of people don’t realize just how important diet really is. An estimated 70% of all disease is related to diet as well as one third of all cancers. That means that what your putting into your body can cause disease.

The typical American diet is scary. It’s overloaded with processed foods and saturated fats and lacking in complex carbs and plant based foods. This type of diet is causing health problems and obesity. It’s slowly killing us.

By cutting meat out of your diet, you can avoid the harmful and toxic chemicals that are in meat these days. Animals are being pumped full of hormones and steroids to make them grow bigger than they normally would be. We are what we eat. In consuming these jacked-up animals that are full of chemicals we in turn are poisoning ourselves. The only way to not subject ourselves to these harmful substances is to not include them in our diets.

Making the switch to a vegetarian diet has many health benefits right off the bat. Most vegetarian diets have little to no animal products at all. The diet is also lower in total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol. Vegetarians lower their overall risk of obesity, coronary heart disease (heart attack), high blood pressure and some forms of cancer. All by eliminating meat and some animal products from their diet.

A common misconception is that vegetarians don’t get enough protein because they don’t eat meat. But you can actually get all the protein you need from other sources. Soy beans, for instance, contain the same amount of protein as meat so it could be your only source of protein if you choose. Whole grains, veggies, seeds and nuts will provide you with all the essential and nonessential amino acids that you need.

The vegetarian lifestyle is ultimately a healthier choice than the average American diet. Changing from being a oblivious meat eater to a conscientious vegetarian will take some hard work and dedication. In the end it will be worth the extra years in this earth.
